Fibers & Design

Fibers and Design introduces students to a myriad of fiber art techniques while connecting with contemporary artists and traditional methods from various cultures around the world. Students will explore beading, image transfer, dyeing, weaving, quilting, felting, fabric design, printing and needlework. They will develop sensitivity to color, pattern, and design through the application of the elements and principles of design in both functional and decorative crafts as well as non-functional fine arts.

A quilted fabric square features a hand-painted pink flower with layered petals and a yellow center. The flower is set against a soft yellow background, surrounded by a patchwork border of pink, blue, and patterned fabrics. The textile artwork appears stitched and textured, showcasing detailed fabric art or quilting craftsmanship.
