English Language Department

Welcome to the English Language Department, home to the teachers who provide our multilingual students with opportunities to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills equal to native speakers of English in order to facilitate their entry into the social aspects of the school community, so that they can be successful in school and life. While supporting students in their acquisition of the English language, particular attention is paid to the strengths that students bring to the table when they are able to speak multiple languages.

A row of raised hands painted with different national flags, including those of the United States, Canada, Brazil, Japan, India, and several European countries. The image represents global diversity, unity, and international cooperation, with hands lifted together against a white background to symbolize inclusion and shared humanity.
A long table set up in a school cafeteria is covered with an international flag tablecloth and lined with bottled water and a variety of foods. A woman stands behind the table arranging items. Flags from many countries hang in the background, suggesting a multicultural or international-themed event or celebration.
A banner displays the letters “ELD” with the words “English Language Development” written below. A row of international flags from many countries arches above the text, representing multilingual learners, cultural diversity, and global inclusion in language education.
A woman stands at the front of a school auditorium or large room, speaking into a microphone. A presentation slide is projected on a screen behind her. Rows of seating are visible in the foreground, suggesting a staff meeting, training session, or informational presentation taking place.
