Kati Coll Dougherty, Class of 1992
Athletics - Athlete
Kati excelled in high school at Field Hockey, Basketball and Softball receiving All-League Honors in all three sports. Kati scored 1,919 points in basketball and holds the all time scoring record at Springfield Township High School. Kati attended West Chester University where she is believed to be the last three-sport athlete in WCU varsity athletic history. Kati was a two-time All-American in both Field Hockey and Lacrosse and was inducted into West Chester’s Hall of Fame in 2010.
Jim Cramer, Class of 1973
Business - Entrepreneur
Jim attended Harvard University and received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Government in 1977 and was the President and Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Crimson. Jim continued his education at Harvard Law School where he received his Juris Doctorate in 1984. After a successful career as a mutual fund manager, Jim became Co-Anchor of CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” and “Mad Money.” Jim is also the founder of The Street, a multimedia provider of financial commentary. In December of 2013, Jim wrote the book, “Jim Cramer’s Get Rich Carefully,” and also has written several other bestseller books.
Alan Eickhoff, Social Studies Teacher at STHS from 1968-2012
Education - Teacher
Alan attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History, with a Minor in Education. From Penn State, Alan attended Trenton State College, and earned his Masters of Arts, majoring in History, with a Minor in Economics. In June of 1969, Alan was hired as a full-time High School Social Studies Teacher. Alan taught at Springfield for 44 years, and spent 38 of those years in the same classroom. Alan was an advocate for struggling students and was an early adopter of technology and restorative practices. Alan taught Advanced Placement US History for 24 years, and served as the Social Studies Department Coordinator for 20 years. Alan was also involved in numerous extracurricular activities.
David Kestenbaum, Class of 1987
Arts & Entertainment - Radio Producer
David attended Yale University and received his Bachelor of Science in 1991, majoring in Physics. David completed his graduate work and went on to earn his Ph.D from Harvard University in 1996, while studying Physics. David’s interest in writing and thinking about journalism was sparked after earning his Ph.D at Harvard. David had his first freelance experience with the Chicago Reader, a weekly newspaper in Chicago. David continued to freelance, writing for small science trade magazines and for the British magazine New Scientist. A major break came in 1997 when he wrote a freelance piece on particle physics for the New York Times. David became a Science Correspondent and Radio Journalist for National Public Radio. David went on to become the Producer for This American Life on National Public Radio.
James Taylor, French Teacher at STHS from 1985-2011
Education - Teacher
James attended Delaware State University. He also studied at Montpellier University in France. Mr. Taylor graduated from West Chester University with a degree in Education. James went on to receive two Masters Degrees in administration at West Chester University. James was the first African-American Teacher in the School District of Springfield Township, hired in the Fall of 1985. James taught all levels of French and was the Coordinator of the World Language Department. James helped create the Voices of Excellence, a club which promotes academic excellence, organizational, leadership skills, and emotional intelligence among its members. James was a major force behind Diversity Day, which has since been renamed in his honor as James Taylor Day, A Celebration of Differences.
