Richard Brooks

Richard Brooks was born on August 27, 1943 in Philadelphia. He attended Springfield schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade and graduated from Springfield Township High School in 1961. From there, he attended Drexel University to obtain a business degree. While at Drexel, Richard was involved in the Army ROTC Program. After obtaining his degree in 1967 he entered the Army and was sent to Fort Carson for Officer’s training. On November 18, 1967, Richard was sent to Vietnam as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 1st Infantry, 2nd Battalion, B Company. One month after being deployed, on December 27th, Richard was killed in action in the Quang Tin region of Vietnam. Subsequent to his death, he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant and was awarded the Silver Star for bravery.
