Mr. Tyler Lawson
Hello! My name is Mr. Lawson, and I am the music and chorus teacher at Erdenheim Elementary School! I teach music to every student in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, and I also teach our after school choruses.
I received my Bachelors of Music Education from Temple University in the spring of 2015, and I just received my Masters of Special Education from West Chester University this past May. This September marks the beginning of my 6th year of teaching elementary music and my 5th year teaching at Erdenheim.
Music class provides many opportunities for all students to explore their creativity, share their talents, and grow as young people. Music makes connections with people from all walks of life, making it an incredibly important class for all learners. It is my goal to support each child in their own musical journey and help them to grow.
When I'm not at school, I enjoy running, reading, baking, caring for my plants, and, of course, singing! I sing with the Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus and their select ensemble, Brotherly Love. I am one of the group's section leaders, and I've had the pleasure of singing in a variety of fun performances, including singing with Hugh Jackman at The Wells Fargo Center, singing with Patti LuPone at The Kimmel Center, and even making a VERY brief appearance singing on an episode of Queer Eye on Netflix.
