May, 2013

Dear Springfield Community,

Congratulations to Dr. Charles Rittenhouse on his appointment as Springfield Township High School Principal, and to Mrs. Jodi Roseman as Director of Special Education and Pupil Services, in the School District of Springfield Township. We welcome these two fine educators to our school district on July 1st and look forward to working with both of them as we get ready to begin a new school year. The public is cordially invited to join us for an open house Meet and Greet event on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. in the Springfield High School cafeteria, where you will have the opportunity to meet and speak with both Dr. Rittenhouse and Mrs. Roseman.

On Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 6:30 p.m., we hope you will take the time to sample some of the treats prepared by our new food service provider, Nutri-Serve, in the Middle School Cafeteria. The staff of Nutri-Serve, a company that has been in the food service business for the past 26 years, is excited about meeting with parents and students and to show how they have succeeded in becoming one of the top food service providers throughout the state of New Jersey. Our district is the company’s first public school venture into Pennsylvania, and they are anxious to demonstrate their commitment to high quality, tasty and nutritious food offerings for our students and staff.

Be on the lookout for our new website design in early July! Our school district website will be hosted by a new provider, Schoolwires, which hosts a large number of school district sites in the tri-county area, New Jersey, and Delaware.  A committee comprised of parents, staff members, a Board member, and administrators, selected Schoolwires based on a number of criteria, including appearance and design of the website, ease of navigation of the site, and capability of loading documents and other important information.

Please take some time to review the Proposed Final Budget that is posted on our school district website. The Proposed Final Budget was reviewed by the Board of School Directors and approved at its May 20th public meeting. This proposed budget will be formally approved in its final form at the June 18th Board meeting, and represents a 1.7% tax increase. The accompanying Power Point presentation helps to explain how the budget was formulated. Questions regarding our budget and budget process can be directed to our interim Business Manager, Mr. Jack Schank, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
