Housing & Homeless Resources

Families experiencing homelessness or unstable housing still have educational rights. Children may be eligible to enroll in school and remain in their current school, even if they are temporarily living outside the school district.

You may qualify for homeless or unstable housing services if you have lost your housing and:

• Are staying with family or friends (doubled up)
• Live in a shelter or transitional housing program
• Stay in a motel because you do not have permanent housing
• Are an unaccompanied youth or migrant child
• Live in a car, van, tent, on the street, or another place not intended for regular housing
• Are awaiting foster care placement

Students may also qualify if they are:

• Runaway or abandoned youth
• Children of migrant families without adequate housing
• Children abandoned in hospitals or awaiting foster care placement
• School-age expectant or parenting students living in temporary housing with no other available residence
