SDST Message to Families, May 24, 2022

Dear SDST Families,

Good morning.  I want to thank you for your support of our staff and administration.  A number of you have contacted me to share your appreciation of the effort our staff makes to create a strong sense of community and belonging in our schools.

This morning Dr. Lutz, our Director of Support Services, and I met with the district clinical team, composed of school counselors, social workers, and psychologists.  We reviewed the needs of the student body and staff today, and they are ready to assist as needed.

A few notes:

  • Today can be an excused absence for any student whose family feels the need for a mental health day as a result of the tragedy.  While routine and familiarity are important, we trust our families to make the best decision you can for your child.
  • We have asked the STPD to visit schools today briefly to add a presence and visibility.  This may be supportive to some and triggering to others.  Please know that they are visiting as a support and not responding to an incident.

Thank you, and have a good day.

MaryJo Yannacone, Ed.D.
