Mrs. Meyer

I always knew I was meant to be a teacher...
In 1999, I graduated from Temple University, where I earned my degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education. Upon graduation, I taught second and fifth grades in Abington School District for about three years.
In 2002, my husband (Mr. Meyer) and I moved to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on the other side of the world for the next five years. I relocated to Cambodia to create a pre-school program in an orphanage. I also developed various skills training programs for older orphans and others in the community. However, my pride and joy from my work in Cambodia is the bilingual school I founded with a team of educators who had a similar vision of wanting to improve education for Cambodian children.
We returned from Cambodia in 2007, and I taught first grade for the School District of Cheltenham Township.
I was hired by the School District of Springfield Township in the summer of 2008. Although I've been teaching fourth grade for more than ten years, I love it! I especially enjoy teaching my students how to be global thinkers and fact-finders so they can possess the skills necessary to learn anything their little hearts desire!
In May 2011, I completed my Masters of Arts in Education at Gratz College. I was a student speaker at commencement, where I emphasized the importance of building relationships with students in order to meet individual needs. I truly believe that the connection teachers have with their students maximizes learning.
