Encyclopedias

World Book Encyclopedia is an outstanding encyclopedia for middle school students. Our subscription permits "in school" use only.

GrolierOnline offers three excellent English language encyclopedias tosearch.  They are The New Book of Knowledge, Grolier MultimediaEncyclopedia, and Encyclopedia Americana. Many of the encyclopediaarticles provide links to appropriate websites related to your topic. Oursubscription permits "in school" use only.


Periodical Searches

Infotrac is designed especially for middle school students.  It offers fulltext articles from fifty magazine titles as well as fulltext Knight-Ridder/Tribune newspaper articles. Infotrac also includes the Information Please Almanac (Atlas and Yearbook), Information Please Sports Almanac, Information Please Environmental Almanac, and the Reader's Companion to American History.  Password is necessary for home use; please ask Mrs. Becker for the password.

Student Resource Center provides information on people, places, events;gives science, social studies, and literature information!

Facts.com is the World Almanac online.


AccessPA Power Home Use


The Access PA POWER Library includes the Associated Press Photo Archive, EBSCOhost, Searchasaurus, SIRS Discoverer, Poem Finder, the ACCESS PA Database, and other databases as well. If you would like to use the Access PA POWER Library databases at home, click on the Access PA Power Library icon in the table above, and you will open the MCLINC (Montgomery County Library and Information Network) web page.  From MCLINC, click on POWER Library Databases.  Next click on the Access PA Power Library icon.You will be prompted to enter your library card barcode number for access to the databases

AccuNet/AP Photo Archive is an archive of over 500,000 current and historical photographs. Access is available from school only. 

EBSCO Host provides thousands of fulltext and abstracted articles from general magazines, business and health journals, and newspapers. 

Searchasaurus includes an encyclopedia, a magazine search, and more.  It was developed for elementary and middle school users. 

SIRS Discoverer provides fulltext articles on topics that are especially useful to students in grades three to eight; it includes articles and graphics, country facts, and World Almanac information.  Reading levels and article summaries are given.

LitFINDER allows you to search for poems by title, author, or subject.
