Mathematics

The Middle School Mathematics curriculum exposes students to an exciting, practical, and creative field of study. It is designed to help them develop an ability to solve problems and reason logically and to expand their knowledge of number theory, number systems, computation estimation, measurement, geometry statistics, probability, patterns and functions and the fundamental concepts of algebra.

A central focus of the mathematics program is the cultivation and development of a higher order thinking and reasoning skills and the solution of practical, real life problems by students. The use of calculators, following acquisition of basic skills, and the use of computers and carefully selected software packages provide for simulations and practical problem solving as well as the curricular extension and the exploration of new ideas.
