Water Slides

Water slides are a fun and “cool” way to observe how physics can work. Water rides have changed over the years and have become much safer due to the understanding of physics and how it affects such rides. Many people will look at a water ride and believe that it is too dangerous when in fact it is perfectly safe. Water rides are designed to keep the rider inside of the tube or slide so that no one will get hurt. Depending on how many turns are in a water slide can make a big difference along with which way the turns go.

Due to the fact that it is very hard to determine how water is going to act on certain objects it is very important that certain variables are taken into consideration. First of all water can be affected very easily by the slightest and most unexpecting ripples in a surface. Things like paint and bathing suits can determine how safe the ride is going to be. Many water slides are based off of previous rides that have had success. Many water slides are even built a few feet bigger just to accommodate any unexpected differences in a person’s effect on water flow. Yet even with all of these hard and sometimes unpredictable calculations, water slides still remain a fun and exciting way to feel the rush of waters acceleration.
