This is were I review books that have been made into movies |
The Killer AngelsAn excellent, engaging book by Michael Sharrqa about the battle of Gettsburg. The story revolves around the four men John Buford, James Longstreet, Jousha Lawerence Chamberlin, and Robert E. Lee, though their eyes the reader is given a clear picture of the turning point in the war between the states.4 stars. A must have. 5 stars. The movie was pretty good too but is very long. Jeff Daniels was good as Chamberlin, but Martin Sheen didn't live up to my expection as Lee. 3 stars. |
Gods and GeneralsA wonderful prequal to the Killar Angels by Jeff Sharrqa. The story goes from the beginning of the war to the battle of Chancellorsville. This time the story is told through the eyes of Winfeld Scott Hancock, Stonewall Jackson Robert E. Lee and Jousha Lawerence Chamberlin. Though their stories the brutality of the war becomes savagly clear.(Spoiler) During one battle a union regiment uses its dead as sheilds while the Nothren Lights flicker overhead.4 stars. The movie however is very dissapointing. Alot of the orginal plot is cut out of the story, while random new parts are added in.The plot is very confusing to follow and the story is told from an almost all southern point of view which makes the few union army apperances seem out of place. The movie borders on racism by having African American cheer on and join the confederate army.1 star |
Harry Potter and the Chamber of SecretsThe story of Harry Potters second year at Hogwarts, by J. K. Rowling, has him battling giant snakes, giant spiders, and giant problems. Supected of being the heir of Slyrein Harry has to prove that he is not petifiying the students at the school.3 1/2 stars. The movie was very good, with good special effects and a storyline that didn't slow down. 3 stars |
RedwallThis story, by Brian Jaccuqes, is set in the middle ages and revolves around a young mouse named Mathias. Mathias dreams of being a warrior, but he soon faces the reality of war when a bunch of evil rats attack the abbey. Having to grow up fast Mattihas must find the sword of Martin the warrior the last hope for his people.4 stars. The movie (air on TV was not in theaters) was very good also sticking mostly to the plot although the random entry of new characters for no reason took away from the story. 3 1/2 stars. |
