| Beyond Good and Evil was released on the PlayStation 2, PC, GameCube, and Xbox. Although it never sold well, it was a huge critical success. You play as Jade, a citizen of a planet called Hillys which is under attack by a force called the DomZ. Through the game, Jade fights this race. Soon, she joins a rebel organization that has discovered that the government of Hillys is working with the DomZ to kidnap the citizens of Hillys and farm them into food. The organization's goal, and the goal of the player in the game, with a very well executed "camera" system, is to take pictures of these things happening inside such places as the processing center, factory, and the moon base of the creatures so the public is aware of the obfuscation and deceit perpetrated by the government so Hillys' citizens will fight back. The gameplay is done extremely well, with many save points and a generous system of life and restarting after death to alleviate frustration. There are numerous mind-bending puzzles, exciting and difficult combat and stealth sections, boss battles, impeccable voice acting, and it is available in most places for under 10 dollars, including as one of the 800 games in GameTap. | ![]() |
