| What is the Student Services Team? SST is a team of faculty members and support personnel trained to identify and assist high-risk students who are having difficulty in school due to depression, alcohol and/or drug abuse, or other mental health problems. Why have a Student Services Team? The primary responsibility of our school is to educate, yet when a student is depressed or feeling hopeless, they are not able to learn as effectivley. Nor is a student able to learn when they are under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Furthermore, when a student's behavior is disruptive to the school environment, other students are not able to teach. SST's goal is to identify at-risk students at the earliest opportunity in order to maximize every student's educational experience. Who refers students to Student Service Team? Teachers, parents, peers, counselors, administrators, psychologists, district personnel, nurses, or students may refer students to SST. Students may also refer themselves. What happens when a student is referred to Student Service Team?
