FIRST Competition is Coming Up

The robot that we are building right now, will be in a competition at Drexel University on March 29, 30 and 31. The game this year is called "Rack-N-Roll" and is an interesting game that is reminiscent of a giant 3D tic-tac-toe. Our team will start on Thursday with unpacking our robot and making sure it's competition ready. Only the pit crew and necessary personnel will be on hand. On Friday the seeding rounds get underway. All team members (both VEX Team and FIRST Build Team) will be able to come on down to Drexel and cheer for our robot. Saturday, the 31st, is when the finals take place. If we have enough interest we will have a spectator bus to encourage students and parents to come on down and see what FIRST is all about.

Tee Shirts are In!

Our own Evelyn has finished painting the wolf on each of the 100 tee shirts we ordered! The shirts are 100% preshrunk cotton tie died in indigo ink in an interesting bullseye pattern. Anyone may buy a tee-shirt from the team for $15! To buy one, just talk to any member or send an e-mail request to teamsec423@yahoo.com with your name and what school you are affiliated with.

The FIRST FRC Build Season Starts!

What happens when you fill a room with people who want to figure out how to build a great robot for this year's FIRST competition? About a million ideas get tossed around, refined, discarded, pulled out of the trash, redefined, twisted, combined...

I think we are starting to figure things out. At least the major design decisions are shaking out. DO ONE THING REALLY WELL was our motto last year, and we've decided that it's still something we want to keep on top of our minds as we plan this year's strategy. We are sure that our robot design will allow us to do one thing really well.

Our inventory of the kit of parts is done and the organization of tools is about to begin. This year, in addition to building a great robot, we want to build a great pit! Organization of the pit, tools and spare parts will be key to this venture. For the first time, we will have a student filling the role of project manager. He has a lot to do, but the whole team is confident that he will be able to do it and do it well. The Business Group is hitting the pavement to get the word out and the money in (hopefully). If you would like to sponsor our team, and get your name or company logo over here on the right, just contact us at teamsec423@yahoo.com and we'll even make it a live link to your site!
