I Dig Your Art, Man!

Seniors! You are about to embark on a critical study of an artist or art movement you admire. Your explorations and evaluations should offer you a deeper background and appreciation for the work and enable you to share a wealth of knowledge with our class.

Tasks:

Select: Select three modern artists or an art movement about whom/which you are curious.

Examine: Examine examples of the artist's work or work representative of the movement. Consider design elements, historical period (what and who was going on), subject or composition.

Reflect: In your journals, reflect on your examinations, offer comparisons, and personal responses.

Project: Develop a thesis surrounding one of the artists or movement you have examined. (For example, Cezanne is justly called the "Father of modern art, because. . . .) Create a 15 to 20 minute original media presentation. This may take the form of a PowerPoint. video, slide show, or a Web presentation. Capture a minimum of twenty images which will present evidence to prove your thesis. The "medium may be the message." Use any available graphic elements--font, color, the artworks themselves--to convey the style of the artists or movements.

In addition to websites, your research must include materials from art journals and books

Make sure that you present sufficient evidence to prove your thesis!

You'll will need to include a works cited list in your final product.
