purpose

In accordance with the educational philosophy of the Springfield Township School District, the Life Experience Education Program (LEEP) is established to provide "a variety of extension activities and experiences through which students may pursue individual interests and discover the ability for leadership."

The program is designed to give students insights into the world beyond the classroom by providing the opportunity to use the business, civic organizations, and non-profit agencies of the community to broaden their education, to learn skills that are integral to a specific industry or service, and/or to provide community service.

objectives

The objectives of the Life Experience Education Program are as follows:

  • To provide real work experience that will permit students to apply skills that have been learned in school.
  • To supplement the formal education of students with skills that are unique to a particular vocation or career.
  • To permit students to discover and explore vocational interests.
  • To encourage students to volunteer their services to the community.
  • To expand the educational value of the school curriculum through the inclusion of facilities and personnel not available in the high school.
  • To allow students to participate in an experience that will allow them to use judgement as well as critical thinking and problem solving skills.
