Gifted and Learning Support
This program is administered under the guidelines established in the Pennsylvania Department of Education Standards and Regulations as they apply to the mentally gifted and special needs students and is available to students deemed eligible under guidelines.

Quest 8 #1209
Grade 8 enrichment is contained within the 8th grade Communication Arts curriculum and offers gifted students the opportunity to extend their work within a setting that includes working in a media communications framework in the Learning Resource Center television studio.
Quest I (Grades 9) #2225 1 credit
Quest I is an honors elective course.
Quest II (Grade 12) #2230 .5 credit
Quest II is an independent study experience. Students will develop, write and orally defend a thesis on an approved topic.
Learning Support
Series 100 Courses (Grades 8-12 )1 credit
These courses are offered to eligible students in four major subjects - English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. In these small classes, a student's Individual Educational Plan (IEP) is implemented.
Itinerant Learning Support (Grades 8-12) #1111 .5 credit
Students with mild learning differences who are motivated to accept the challenge of regular education can receive assistance through the Itinerant Learning Support Program. In a small group setting, students will learn a variety of strategies to increase productivity, improve organizational, study and time management skills. Students receive direct instruction as needed and review content for tests and quizzes.
Senior Thesis 100 (Grade 12) .5 credit
These courses are offered to eligible students in the four major subjects - Language Arts, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics. In these small classes, a student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) is implemented.
Academic Seminar .5 credit
Academic Seminar provides extra support to students so that they are able to achieve the highest level of academic success. In order to enroll in the course, students must be recommended by a teacher or counselor and complete an application process. During the course, students receive support while completing assignments and projects for core academic subjects. While working on the assignments, students work with instructors, teaching assistants, and peer tutors to review organizational techniques, communication skills, and basic tools needed to succeed in the classroom. Students also focus on reading that help build comprehension, retention, analysis, and evaluation. Finally, the students develop and improve writing and research skills.
