Series 100 Courses (1 credit)
These courses are offered to eligible students in the four major subjects - English, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. In these small classes, a student's Individual Educational Plan (IEP) is implemented. (Grades 9-12)
Itinerant Learning Support (Grades 8-12) #1111 (.5 credit)
Students with mild learning differences who are motivated to accept the challenge of regular education can receive assistance through the Itinerant Learning Support Program. In a small group setting, students will learn a variety of strategies to increase productivity, improve organizational, study and time management skills. Students receive direct instruction as needed and review content for tests and quizzes.
Senior Thesis 100 #2025 (.5 credit)
This class focuses on the skills necessary for functioning independently in a democratic society. The curriculum includes civic knowledge, identification of community resources, communication skills and the awareness of local government issues. Also covered in the course is the preparation of a resume, demonstration of job-hunting skills and responsibilities involving personal finance.
Academic Seminar (.5 credit)
Academic Seminar provides extra support to students so that they are able to achieve the highest level of academic success. In order to enroll in the course, students must be recommended by a teacher or counselor and complete an application process. During the course, students receive support while completing assignments and projects for core academic subjects. While working on the assignments, students work with instructors, teaching assistants, and peer tutors to review organizational techniques, communication skills, and basic tools needed to succeed in the classroom. Students also focus on reading that help build comprehension, retention, analysis, and evaluation. Finally, the students develop and improve writing and research skills.
