Senior Thesis #1985 (.5 credit)
In this class, students create an independent project based upon future career plans, educational goals, or a specific new area of interest. Students, in coordination with the instructor, a mentor and peers, will develop a detailed organizational plan that will include their outline for research, project development, hands-on experience, and a culminating presentation. Students are encouraged to be creative, to challenge themselves, and to use all of the skills they have learned throughout their educational journey at Springfield Township High School. This course values individual freedom and flexibility while maintaining high standards for achievement. Grade 12.
Senior Thesis in the field of Computer Science #1097 (.5 credit)
In this class, students create an independent project based upon a computer technology topic they want to explore. Students will work with a mentor in the field and the instructor to develop a detailed organizational plan that will include their outline for research and implementation of a project. Students are encouraged to challenege themselves, and to use all of the skills they have learned throughout their educational jourey at Springfield Township High School. Students will present their project to peers and individuals working in the field of choice. This course values individual freedom and flexibility while maintaining high standards for achievement. Teacher recommendation required. Grade 12.
Quest 12 #2230 (.5 credit)
This course is an independently driven academic pursuit meant to prepare students for post-high school research standards. You will be challenged to delve into a topic of your own choosing and deal with the complexities of this topic as you learn more and more about it. While the expectations for scholarly work are high, you will be working alongside teachers who want to help you successfully deal with the challenges that come with high level academic work. At the end of the course, you will emerge with an extensive research paper that you can be proud of, a sense of accomplishment from defending your work in front of your teachers and a better feel for how you can excel academically after high school. Must be in the Quest program. Grade 12.
Senior Thesis 100 #2025 (.5 credit)
This class focuses on the skills necessary for functioning independently in a democratic society. The curriculum includes civic knowledge, identification of community resources, communication skills and the awareness of local government issues. Also covered in the course is the preparation of a resume, demonstration of job-hunting skills and responsibilities involving personal finance. Grade 12.
