Using This Site For Planning
- It is useful to begin to plan the courses you will take throughout your high school career. Some courses may be given in alternative semesters only.
- If you are considering the courses offered at the Eastern Center for Arts & Technology discuss this with your counselor.
- Levels of courses: While all courses may count towards college admission requirements, levels exist which designate the degree of difficulty. Leveling is the classification of courses according to the difficulty and complexity of skills, methods and requirements of the course. Students will be recommended for the levels by current teachers based on past and current performance as well as performance on standardized testing. Questions/concerns regarding levels should be directed to the teacher and/or counselor. Reading and writing assignments will be challenging and rigorous in all courses. Honors level courses require analytic and writing ability.
- The major subject teachers will make their recommendations and discuss them with the students. Students will request elective courses by filling out the elective course request form. All of that information will be combined and a course request verification sheet will be sent out for the review and signature of parents and student. Students will prioritize their choices for electives, so that they have a better chance of getting the course that they want.
