Using this site for planning
- It is useful for students to begin to plan the courses they will take throughout their high school career. Some courses may be given in alternate semesters only.
- Students who are considering the courses offered at the Eastern Center for Arts & Technology should discuss this with their counselor.
- Levels of courses: While all courses may count towards college admission requirements, course levels designate the degree of difficulty. Leveling is the classification of courses according to the difficulty and complexity of skills, methods, and requirements of the course. Teachers recommend students for appropriate levels based on past and current performance as well as performance on standardized testing. Questions/concerns regarding levels should be directed to the teacher and/or counselor.
- The major subject teachers make their recommendations and discuss them with their students. Students request elective courses by filling out the elective course request form and prioritizing their choices. These two sources of information are combined, and a course request verification sheet is sent out for the review and signature of parents and student.
