Third Option:
Following are some additional semester project alternatives. They each involve doing volunteer work that involves direct interaction with special populations. Listed below are some examples of appropriate institutions/organizations in the area. A minimum of six (6) hours of volunteer work should be equivalent to reading five (5) magazine articles, while twelve (12) would take the place of ten (10) articles. You will, of course, be expected to write a critique of your experiences of no less than four (4) pages.
I enthusiastically encourage you to consider one or more of these options, though your participation is strictly voluntary. This can be a very educational, enriching and rewarding experience for you. In addition, you would be earning academic credit while performing community service. By the way, this kind of participation looks great on a resume.
If you decide you are interested in one or more of the below options, see me for a parental permission slip and contact information.
