| Evaluation Services Students who demonstrate learning, behavioral, emotional, and other needs(including those thought to be mentally gifted) can receive a Multi-Disciplinary Evaluation. The school district psychologists are members of evaluation teams who administer psycho-educational assessments to help determine the strengths and needs of individual students. Parents, teachers and other professionals also give input to all educational decisions regarding students. Following the evaluation, all the members receive and evaluation report and are invited to participate in a meeting to develop an Individual Education Plan. Services For Exceptional Children Special Education services are provided for all exceptional students to the degree that their needs cannot be met by regular education. There is a continuum of services available based upon individual student need. Special Education Classes In Springfield Gifted Support, Learning Support, Emotional Support, Speech and Language Support, and Occupational and Physical Therapies are provided at all four schools.
Children with other exceptionalities, such as Mental Retardation, Physical Disability, Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Serious Emotional Disturbance, and Autism may be served either within Springfield or in a school outside the district. |
