912. INTERACTION WITH EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS

1.Purpose

  The Board expects that effective communication will be maintained by the Springfield Township school district with other school districts and institutions that provide programs, training, or services to students residing in this school district, and with school districts whose resident students are enrolled in programs of this district.

2.Authority

  The district in which students are enrolled has responsibility and authority for said students. For those students to receive the maximum benefit from their educational program, cooperation between educational institutions is essential.

3.Delegation
of Responsibility

 To maintain cordial and constructive interaction with other educational institutions, the Superintendent or a designee shall be responsible for the following situations:

 

In the Case of a Receiving District:

 

1.  Provide a complete description of all programs available to students of the sending district(s), where appropriate.

 

2.  Provide an orientation program for incoming students of a sending district.

 

3.  Receive from the sending district a report of any serious discipline problems encountered with students from the sending district.

 

In the Case of a Sending District

 

1.  Arrange for an orientation program to ensure that students of this district are properly prepared to enter the schools of the receiving district.

 

2.  Develop procedures so that this district can follow the progress of its students during their career in the receiving school district.

 

With Parochial and Private Schools

  1. Establish appropriate student accounting procedures to satisfy district and state requirements in the areas of enrollment, attendance, transportation and other special services.

 

2.  Maintain liaison with the administrators of all private and parochial schools which enroll students who are residents in this district so that this district can be aware of any program changes that may be planned which could affect the students or operations of this district.

 

With Institutions of Higher Education

 1. Cooperate with higher education institutions in the placement and evaluation of student teachers in accordance with Board policy on student teachers.

 

2.  Welcome representatives of institutions of higher education who wish to speak to students who may be interested in attending their institutions upon graduation.

 3. Honor all requests for transcripts and other records in accordance with the Board's policy on student records.
