908. INTERACTION WITH PARENTS |
1.Purpose |
The Board believes that the education of children is a joint responsibility shared with the parents of the school community. To ensure that the best interests of the students are served, a strong program of communication between home and school must be maintained. |
2.Authority
SC 1317 |
The Board believes that the parents have the ultimate responsibility for the in-school behavior of their children, including the behavior of students who have reached the legal age of majority but are still under parental authority. |
3.Guidelines |
The Board directs that the following activities be implemented each school year to encourage parent-school cooperation: |
|
1. Parent-teacher conferences to permit two-way communication between home and school; |
|
2. Open houses in each district school to provide parents with the opportunity to see the school facilities, meet the faculty, and review the educational programs on a first-hand basis; |
|
3. Special events of a cultural, ethnic, or topical nature which may be initiated by parent groups and which involve the cooperative effort of students, parents and faculty and are of general interest to the schools or community. |
