905. CITIZEN ADVISORY COMMITTEES

1.Purpose

Citizen advisory committees are useful in keeping the Board and administration informed with regard to community opinion and in representing the community in the study of specific school and educational issues.

2.Authority

In creating an advisory committee, the Board may request that the Superintendent define the committee assignments and identify residents who are interested and who can make some special contribution to the committee's deliberations.  The Board retains the right to approve or disapprove of all citizen advisory committees.

Creation of citizen advisory committees shall not compromise or diminish the responsibility of the Board, which shall be free to accept or reject any or all advisory committee recommendations. Meetings of advisory committees are not to be considered as regular meetings of the Board, and shall not be governed by provisions of the Sunshine Law.
