701. FACILITIES PLANNING |

1.Purpose |
Strategic planning for the purposes of enhancing the quality of education in the Springfield Township School district is desirable and is required by State Board of Education regulations. Community involvement is an important part of such a process. Facilities planning is a primary component of such long range planning. |
2.Authority

Information gathered in the census shall include the child's name, date of birth, age, sex, nationality, address, the name and address of each child’s parents or guardians, the name and location of the school in which the child is or could be assigned, the name and address of any employer of a child under eighteen (18), and such other information as the Board may require to operate the district. |
3.Delegation
of Responsibility |
The Superintendent or a designee shall periodically provide the following information to the Board: |

1. A written description of existing physical facilities and needs; |
|
2. The number of live births, resident students attending private school, and new residential units approved or planned in Springfield Township; |
|
3. The enrollment by grades during the school year; |
|
4. An estimate each spring of the number of students who will be enrolled in the schools of the district in September of the year for which the estimate is made; and |
|
5. Student population projections and a comparison of the actual population figures to the previously projected figures to detect any possible changes in population trends. |
4.Guidelines

In planning for the modification of facilities, the Board shall consider the number of students whose educational needs must be met and the physical requirements of the program it deems best suited to meet those needs. |

Each school building and site shall provide suitable facilities to carry out the educational program of the school, including provisions for disabled persons, pursuant to law and regulation. |
