231-AR. Social Events and Class Trips
Social Events
The following guidelines will be followed by all students involved
in school sponsored social events and class trips. Field trips are covered
by Policy 121.
Social events, such as dances, held in a school shall be approved in
advance by the principal, who shall serve as the clearing house for
such functions in the building.
Any organization planning to sponsor a social event must consult with
the building principal.
The advisor of the organization sponsoring each event shall be responsible
for planning and arranging all details.
Each event must have at least two (2) adult chaperones in attendance.
Failure to provide adequate chaperones will result in cancellation of
the event by the principal.
Class Trips
It shall be the responsibility of the class trip sponsor to inform
the building principal in writing concerning the dates and details of
the planned trip, who shall forward such information to the Superintendent.
The principal's written approval must be secured before planning proceeds.
The Superintendent's written approval must be obtained before any class
trip commitments are made.
The class trip sponsor shall obtain written permission for the trip
from the parents/guardians of all participants.
Overnight trips must meet the following criteria:
- Educational value of the trip must be reported in a written statement.
- All necessary expenses shall be the responsibility of the group.
- Expenses for participants shall not prohibit any student from participating.
- All established school rules are in effect for the duration of the
trip, and any violation of these rules shall be reported by the class
trip sponsor to the building principal. Students shall be held responsible
for compliance with rules, and infractions of those rules will be
subject to the same disciplinary actions serving as consequences during
the regular school program.
Students are responsible for obtaining homework assignment(s) prior
to an absence from school and must make up all homework assignments
which may have been missed.
