No. 229-AR. STUDENT FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES
In order to protect the integrity of the school instructional day,
the following fund raising guidelines are provided:
- All fund raising projects must be approved by the building principal or site council.
- Fund raising must be with a specific purpose and funds received should be targeted to that end.
- Those fund raising activities that are directly sponsored and controlled by the school should be limited so that no more than one such activity takes place during a given period of time.
- All schools within a school attendance area should endeavor to coordinate fund raising activities so that the patrons of the attendance area will not be confronted with several schools having fund raising activities to occur at the same time. Principals within the attendance area should prepare and implement such coordination.
- Principals and school site councils should encourage the various booster organizations and the parent/teacher organizations to coordinate their fund raising activities with the school sponsored activities, realizing that these school support groups are autonomous organizations. As much as possible, booster club and parent/teacher organizations fund raising activities should be placed on the school fund raising calendar to foster coordination and planning.
- Every effort should be made to avoid the use of instructional time by teachers and students for the collection and recording of fund raising monies.
- All literature that includes fund raising instructions must provide a directive for students as such: "Students are not permitted to solicit door-to-door without an adult escort. High School students must solicit with a partner if no adult is present."
