214-AR. Class Rank
-
Rationale:
In order to encourage our students to take advantage of the wealth
of opportunities afforded them through extensive elective offerings,
a system of total quality points will be used to determine class rank.
The following administrative regulations will be used to determine
class rank for students beginning with the Class of 2006.
-
Procedures:
- Parents will be informed of this change through official letter
in the Fall, 2003 and in the future through notices in the course
offering booklets.
- Grade Point Average (GPA) and Class Rank are calculated on a weighted
scale as follows:

- Courses included in the GPA and Class Rank are limited to those
taken during the school day with the exception of evening college
courses.
- The number of college courses is limited to those taken in lieu
of the STHS elective as part of the seven (7) credit minimum/eight
(8) credit maximum requirement.
- Virtual High School courses taken once the seven (7) credit minimum
is achieved will be given quality points at the academic, honors
and advanced placement levels.
- Class rank is determined by multiplying a student’s grades
by the credit value of all the courses qualifying for class rank
by the criteria listed above.
- GPA is calculated on a weighted scale by dividing the total quality
points by the number of credits attempted.
