201. Admission of Beginners |

The Board shall establish age requirements for
the admission of beginners which are consistent with statute and
sound educational practice and which ensure the equitable treatment
of all eligible children.

Beginners
Beginners are children entering the lowest grade of the primary
school above the kindergarten level. They shall be admitted to
school only during the first two (2) weeks of the annual school
term, except that a child who is eight (8) years of age may begin
school at any time during the school year.

SC 1304 |
A beginner is eligible for admission to the lowest
grade of the primary school above the kindergarten level if s/he
has attained the age of six (6) years on or before the first day
of September.

Sec. 11.16 |
The Board may, on the written request of the parent
or guardian, admit as a beginner a child who has completed a full
year of kindergarten in a full day public school program, or whose
chronological age is not less than five (5) years, eleven (11)
months and who possesses readiness skills equivalent to those
expected by children attending the District kindergarten on an
end-of-year assessment and approved by the Superintendent.

A child is eligible for admission to kindergarten if s/he has
attained the age of five (5) years on or before the first day
of September.

3.Delegation
of Responsibility |
The Superintendent shall require that each child
who registers for entrance to school exhibit proof of birth and
dates of immunizations and residency in Springfield Township. |

Transportation
No students will be transported to a public or private school
unless they meet School District of Springfield Township age criteria
or have an IEP.
