Reading Specialist:

I understand the importance of school in the life of a child and believe that every child can succeed. In my role as a teacher and model, I will strive to carry out the following responsibilities:

1. Teach the Language Arts Standards and help my students to meet the benchmarks.
2. Model reading so that my students will desire to become life-long readers.
3. Have high expectations for my students and me.
4. Regularly communicate with parents and the classroom teacher on each student’s progress.

I realize that my child’s learning years are very important. I understand that my participation in my child’s education will help his/her achievement and attitude. Therefore, I will strive to carry out the following responsibilities:

1. Read at least 15 minutes each day with my child. When Leveled readers are sent home, I will listen to my child read to help my child become a fluent reader.
2. Give my child a quiet place to do school work.
3. Make sure my child gets enough sleep each night.
4. Attend open house and parent conferences.
