PL 107-110
(Section 1118) |
To this end, parents and school staff will jointly
develop a school compact for Title 1 parent involvement that establishes
programs and practices to enhance parent involvement and reflects
the needs of students and families. The compact will support the
development, implementation, and regular evaluation of the parent
involvement program by parents.
|
| 2.Definition |
A Learning Compact is an agreement
between the home and school that defines goals, expectations,
and shared responsibilities of schools and parents as partners
in student learning. The Learning Compact is a sharing of expectations,
and will provide direction for designing and implementing activities.
The Learning Compact will describe ways the parents and schools
will be responsible for student learning and will address the
importance of communication between parents and teachers. It will
clarify responsibilities and expectations, designate specific
goals for parents, teachers, and students, and will enhance the
child’s education by providing effective support at home
and at school.
|
| 3.Purpose |
Parent and family involvement requires two-way
communication between home and school. The purpose of the Learning
Compact is to involve parents in all stages of the development
of the plan: in its planning, implementation, review and improvement
as the parents and school work together for the success of all
students. This partnership is intended to achieve high standards
for our program.
