111. Lesson Plans

To ensure continuity of instruction and thorough preparation for daily lessons, the Board requires teachers to prepare lesson plans. To facilitate more effective instruction, lesson plans must be prepared for each day of instruction.

Lesson plans shall include the following:

1. The lesson objectives and expected outcomes.
2. The activities that are to be pursued in reaching the objectives.
3. The methods and materials to be used.
4. Specific reference to textbooks, workbooks or sources normally used in the class.

Teachers shall make thorough preparation for all daily lessons and shall prepare written plans reflecting such preparation.

Plan books will be reviewed and will conform to the guidelines established by the building principal, as these appear in the faculty handbook.

Teachers are to provide adequate directions for substitutes, the purpose of which shall be to continue the ongoing program or a meaningful educational alternative that relates to the current topic and subject area.

Plan books must be made available to substitute teachers at all appropriate times. They shall be submitted to the principal prior to, or in conjunction with any absence of a teacher.
