106. Course Guides

A guide shall be prepared for each course of study adopted by the Board in order in order to direct and assist the professional staff toward the attainment of goals sought by that course of study.
Each course guide shall contain:

1. Objectives of the course of study.
2. Student outcomes to be achieved.
3. Suggested activities designed to provide for the attainment of the student outcomes.
4. Primary and secondary source materials that may be used in the student activities.
5. A general statement of the estimate of time to be spent on each activity.
6. Evaluation criteria intended to test the extent to which learning outcomes have been achieved.
7. A reading list of supplemental titles for the guidance of teachers and students.
   

Each teacher will use the course guide as the basis for teaching the course s/he has been assigned.
The Superintendent shall be responsible for the preparation of course guides and shall develop a plan for such preparation.

Whenever new course guides are developed or existing guides revised, copies of these additions or changes will be made available in a central location for informational purposes, for the Board and any citizen to review.

Copies of all current guides shall be kept on file in the office of the Superintendent or a designee.
