105.1. Parental Assurances |
1.Purpose |
The Board recognizes that parents are assured
the opportunity to access information about the district's curriculum,
instruction, and testing. Parents have the right to have their
child(ren) excused from State assessments, as well as specific
instruction which conflicts with their religious beliefs or personal
beliefs.

These assurances are stated in Chapter 5 Curriculum
Regulations, 5.4 (d), adopted by the State Board of Education,
1992. |
3.Delegation
of Responsibility |
The Superintendent or designee shall establish
procedures to implement the requirements of Chapter 5 and to ensure
the parents the following:
- The ability to access information about the district's curriculum,
instructional materials and assessment techniques.
- A process for the review of instructional materials.
- The right to have their child(ren) excused from specific instruction
which conflicts with their religious or personal beliefs. A
signed, written request from the parent to the building principal
is required.
- The right to have their child(ren) excused from the State
assessments. A signed, written parental request needs to be
forwarded to the building principal.
Parents are to address their concerns regarding the above to
the administration.
