105. Curriculum Development

1.Authority

Sec. 5.217
|
The Board recognizes its responsibility for the
improvement and growth of the educational program of the schools.
To this end, the curriculum shall be evaluated, adapted and developed
on a continuing basis and in accordance with a plan for curriculum
development.

2.Definition
|
For purposes of this policy, curriculum shall
be defined as all planned learning activities of the schools,
such as the courses of study, subjects, classes, and organized
group activities provided by the school.
|
3.Delegation
of Responsibility
|
As educational leader of the district, the Superintendent
shall be responsible to the Board for the development of curriculum
and shall establish procedures for curriculum development.

With prior Board approval, the Superintendent
may conduct such pilot programs as are deemed necessary to the
continuing growth of the instructional program.
