responsibilities

teacher sponsor

  1. Assist in the task of evaluating student proposals
  2. Call employer during the first week of the program to ascertain that the student is in attendance on a daily basis.
  3. Act as a liaison between the community sponsor and the school.
  4. Visit each student at the project location.
  5. Hold meetings with students when necessary.
  6. Keep the PATHWAYS Coordinator advised of student problems as they arise.

classroom teacher

The classroom teacher will assume the following responsibilities:

  1. Notify the PATHWAYS Coordinator if any student listed for the program is ineligible due to failure in a course or because of outstanding obligations.
  2. Check the LEEP list against the class to make sure each senior signs out.

community sponsor

The community sponsor will assume the following responsibilities:

  1. Agree to provide the student with a voluntary work or service experience for at least five hours a day for five days a week for the duration of the program.
  2. Meet with the teacher sponsor at least once during the program.
  3. Communicate all absences to the teacher sponsor.
  4. Contact the teacher sponsor or the PATHWAYS Coordinator concerning any problems encountered by or with a student or problems with the program itself.

pathways coordinator

The PATHWAYS Coordinator will assume the following responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and have printed LEEP booklets for distribution at the senior orientation assembly.
  2. Advise students and answer questions they might have.
  3. Publish and distribute to the faculty a list of students accepted into the program.
  4. Assist in visitations to the community sponsors.
  5. When necessary, make the final decision concerning the withdrawal of a student from the program, and notify faculty immediately about any student who is withdrawn from the program.
