procedures

qualifications

To qualify for the Life Experience Education Program, a student must:

  • Be in 12th grade.
  • Be passing all subjects
  • Have a 2.0 cumulative grade point average, as calculated at the end of Semester 1 Senior year
  • Have no failing grade in Marking Period 4 or 5 of Senior year
  • Attend the LEEP meeting
  • Have parental permission to participate in the program
  • Find a community sponsor who agrees to provide a 5-day program of sound educational value, without pay, for five hours a day (not including lunch) and for five days a week
  • Submit the LEEP application and LEEP proposal forms (see Proposal) as outlined in the "Application Procedures for Acceptance into the Life Experience Education Program"

application procedures

  1. Both the application and the proposal must be completed and submitted to the PATHWAYS Coordinator on or before Friday April 30, 2010.
  2. The student, the parent, and the community sponsor must sign the application.
  3. The application and proposal will be presented to the PATHWAYS Coordinator for approval or rejection.
    Proposal criteria:
    1. Must be a valid educational experience, preferably one that is related to the student's career goals/aspirations. Non-educational experiences will not be accepted.
    2. Must be a bona fide, non-paid experience that requires a 6-day release time from school.
    3. Must be a proposal reflecting the student's interests/aptitudes.
  4. When the student is accepted into the program, the student and his/her parents will be notified.
  5. The program will begin on Friday, June 4, 2010 and end on Monday, June 14, 2010
