  1. Students of the senior class participate in a group orientation about LEEP.
  2. Students seek and obtain a community sponsor. The PATHWAYS Coordinator maintains a list of former sponsors and existing leads that will be furnished selectively to students on an individual basis according to the student interests and suitability
  3. Students make a formal application to the PATHWAYS Coordinator that includes an application and a proposal stating the reason for undertaking the project and the activities connected with the project.
  4. The PATHWAYS Coordinator reviews all applications. High priority will be given to the educational value of the project.
  5. The PATHWAYS Coordinator will contact all sponsors and verify their role(s) in specific projects.
  6. A list of all accepted students will be published and circulated to the faculty. Teachers will notify the PATHWAYS Coordinator if any student on the list is in danger of failing to meet graduation requirements.
  7. Each participating student will receive a sign-out sheet that must be signed by the librarian, the student's guidance counselor, and the school nurse, indicating approval and verifying that all of the student's obligations have been met.
  8. Students will be required to report to the school at times and places agreed upon with their sponsors.
  9. Students will keep a journal and prepare a written report based on their experiences.
  10. Students must always be aware that they are representatives of Springfield Township High School and must conduct themselves in such a manner as to bring credit to the school.
  11. Students must provide their own means of transportation to and from the job site.
  12. Students must be on time and regular in attendance on the job. In the event of an absence, the student must notify both the employer and the LEEP Coordinator. An absence note signed by the parent is mailed to the LEEP Coordinator.
  13. Students must assume full responsibility for being present at the times, dates, and places for all meetings, work sessions, seminars, and individual conferences designed by the teacher sponsor.
  14. Students will report problems developing because of the project directly to their teacher sponsor or to the PATHWAYS Coordinator as soon as possible.
  15. Teacher sponsors will visit the student at project locations at least once.
  16. At no time may participating students be in the high school building without authorization.
  17. The final evaluation of each student's experience will be made by the teacher sponsor based upon interviews with the student, weekly progress sheets submitted by the community sponsor, and the student's successful completion of all requirements.
