An Introduction to Technology at Springfield

The School District of Springfield Township is committed to leveraging the technologies that support data-driven planning, teaching and learning. It is our belief that the thoughtful integration of appropriate technology used in an ethical and efficient manner is critical to the advancement of the overall mission of the School District of Springfield Township.

To live, learn and work successfully in an increasingly complex and information-rich society, students must be able to use technology effectively. Within an effective educational setting, technology can enable students to become capable information technology users; information seekers, analyzers, and evaluators; problem solvers and decision makers; creative and effective users of productivity tools; communicators, collaborators, publishers and producers; and informed, responsible and contributing citizens.

In recent years, Springfield has been the proud recipient of both Pennsylvania's Getting To One and Classrooms for the Future grants. These grants helped fund professional development and technology-rich classrooms, advancing our mission to ensure that all students are:

  • High achieving
  • Socially and ethically responsible
  • Self-directed and productive through a high performing, unified and aligned learning community.

The Technology Advisory Committee meets two or three times each school year. It is chaired by the technology director and includes teachers, administrators, technology staff, district librarians, students, representatives from the Board of School Directors and Interemediate Unit, parents, and members of the community. For more information, contact Kristen Swanson, Director of Technology.
